Winter storm is on the way

Snow? A winter storm watch is up for part of the Triangle as the entire area shivers
At this point, totals could range between 1 to 3+ inches with higher totals possible if temperatures fall below 32° earlier in the evening. In Bismarck, N.D., police said cold weather "may have been a factor" in the death of a 52-year-old man whose body was found lying in the snow. Wind gusts stronger than 50 miles per hour are possible along the immediate coasts of North Carolina (Thu AM), New England (Thu PM) and Atlantic Canada (late Thu PM into early Fri AM) depending on the exact track of the low-pressure system.
Pedestrians walk up a street on Beacon Hill during white-out, blizzard-like conditions in a winter nor'easter snow storm in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S. February 9, 2017. Well, it looks like the atmospheric conditions are becoming favorable for a winter storm to develop. This storm system will then lift to the north, passing off the Carolina coast during the day on Wednesday.
After the storm, the region will be slapped with an Arctic air mass on Saturday, plunging temperatures to below zero in New York City.
In Charleston, 1 to 3 inches snow and sleet is forecast Wednesday, where the Weather Service warns to "plan on hard travel conditions".
The National Weather Service office serving northeast Florida and southeast Georgia cautions that a nasty a mix light freezing rain, light sleet, and light snow is expected to develop Wednesday "with significant icing possible". A wintry mix was forecast for Wednesday.
Moving up from Florida, parts of Georgia and the Carolinas also have the potential to see a bit of snow. The precipitation will remain primarily snow inland.
Giants request interviews with Josh McDaniels, Matt Patricia
Panthers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks has also been approached by the Giants, as he confirmed in a news conference on Monday. Rapoport also reported that after Chuck Pagano's firing on Sunday, Josh McDaniels is expected to interview for the job.
Forecast temperatures behind the storm show frigid air returning for the end of the week. All snow will come to an end around midnight Wednesday night. The low pressure system will not only bring moisture to the area, but a slight warm up as well. Based on the latest information. New Jersey may see 4 to 6 inches. The areas with the greatest risk of 3 inches of snow will exist from inland Horry County, through southern Florence County and into Marion and Robeson Counties. However, with cold air in place, all of the state has a decent chance of at least some accumulating (plowable) snow. ABC News reports that wind chills could reach minus 30 across the Midwest and Northeast, with minus 50 potentially in the cards for northern NY.
The powerful storm will be centered well off the Northeast coast.
IMPACTS: Extremely unsafe travel conditions will develop through Wednesday.
The cold start prompted some school closings and delays. All road surfaces will likely be ice and snow covered by the late afternoon and evening hours.
A monster storm could hit the entire East Coast and even parts of the Southeast on Wednesday and Thursday, with up to a foot of snow expected in some regions.
A storm will form over the ocean and will become big in both size and strength. A track of the storm closer to the coast would result in higher amounts of ice and snow and is something we'll be watching for very carefully through Wednesday morning.
