Indian troops prepared to deal with China: Chief of Army Gen Bipin Rawat
The Indian army chief General Bipin Rawat said on Friday that "some control has to be exercised on" Valley madrasas and masjids for they are "incorrectly" informing students and spreading disinformation among the youth of Kashmir. Terrorists are a disposable commodity in Pakistan and the Indian Army approach has been to ensure that it feels the pain, he said.
Giving the first detailed account that led to the Doklam stand-off between India and China, General Rawat said: "China began constructing the road through the Doklam Plateau in 2000, but in 2016 it appeared that the status quo [of relative positions along the border] would be changed". If we will have to really confront the Pakistanis, and a task is given to us, we are not going to say we can not cross the border because they have nuclear weapons.
"We are examining various dimensions of the proposal", he said.
General Rawat, who had previously also highlighted on the need for technologically advanced weapons and equipment, said that threat from CBRN weapons is fast becoming a concern.
Speaking on the recent cases of reported intrusion along the Line of Actual Control in Arunachal Pradesh, the Army supremo said that China is exerting pressure.
However, Rawat admitted that the Chinese troop strength in Doklam had gone down recently.

The law, which passed before the New Year, offers companies a drastic tax cut by bringing the corporate rate down to 21% from 35%. The news about the layoffs, which Walmart apparently tried to downplay by announcing the bonuses, was met with severe criticism.
Asked about Chinese incursions, he said, "We will not allow our territory to be invaded by anyone".
Stating that "terrorism in J&K is not over", Gen Rawat said the Army will shift its focus to north Kashmir this year, after having focused on south Kashmir last year. "It is too premature to say that everything is going to be in our favour and the United States will do our job", the Army chief said.
Moreover, he said a hotline will be set up between the Indian and Chinese armies very soon.
The issue has been resolved through established mechanism, spokesperson in the Ministry of External Affairs Raveesh Kumar said yesterday.
He asked for a "wait-and-watch" approach on the impact of U.S. pressure on Pakistan, arguing that the USA also has its own compulsions vis-à-vis Pakistan. "But we have mechanisms in place with China to defuse any such incidents", he said.
