Honda Details 50 MPG 2019 Insight Hybrid

First Look: Honda's sleek new Insight compact hybrid emphasizes style as much as it does efficiency
"The new 2019 Honda Insight single we are entering a new era of electrification with a new generation of Honda products that offer customers the benefits of advanced powertrain technology without the traditional trade-offs in design, premium features or packaging", said Henio Arcangeli, Jr., senior vice president of Automobile Sales and genera manager of the Honda Division, American Honda Motor Co., Inc.
Roomy and with the latest technology onboard, the 2019 Honda Insight aims to offer a premium compact experience above the best-selling Civic.
Honda has been an active player in the hybrid vehicle market for quite some time now. A long wheelbase ensures rear seat passengers aren't short on space, and available perforated leather seating will guarantee that the Insight does not feel like a gas miser of yesteryear. Customizable app tiles, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto are also featured, with Honda further confirming over-the-air software updates via Wi-Fi.
It is the fifth electrified Honda launched over the past year, joining the Clarity series of eco-friendly models (Fuel Cell, Plug-In Hybrid, Electric) and the 2018 Accord Hybrid. That uses Honda's latest two-motor hybrid system, which pairs a 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle engine with an electric propulsion motor and a lithium-ion battery tucked under the rear seats.
In terms of safety tech, EX models and above will get Honda LaneWatch, while all other models will feature the automaker's Honda Sensing suite of advanced safety and driver-assists as standard equipment, including Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Departure Warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow and new Traffic Sign Recognition. Therefore, if Honda fully implements this drivetrain in the new Civic-based Insight, which is likely 700-800 lbs. lighter, performance should be robust.
Honda hasn't announced the powertrain specs, but it does say that it's targeting a combined rating over 50 mpg. No word yet on whether there will be a plug-in version. The company says that the motor will work as a generator in nearly all conditions, empowering a form of its very much respected 1.5-liter turbo four backed by another two-engine hybrid system, that will convey fuel economy in excess of 50 miles for every gallon.
The auto manufacturer hopes to make two-thirds of its global vehicle sales electrified by 2030.
Production of the 2019 Insight will take place at a plant in Greensburg, Indiana, where Honda produces the Civic and CR-V.

Oprah Should Absolutely Run for President
Why? Winfrey campaigned for President Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012, but has no experience in campaigning or governing otherwise. You tweeted that you're glad people are finally taking her seriously as a presidential candidate for the Democrats .
