Google sued for anti-conservative bias by fired engineer

Google sued for anti-conservative bias by fired engineer

He was joined in the suit by David Gudeman, another former Google engineer. Women at Google, Uber, Twitter Inc. and Microsoft Corp. are seeking class-action status in lawsuits accusing those companies of favoring men for promotions in engineering roles.

Two former Google employees have filed a lawsuit claiming the tech giant discriminates against conservative white men.

"Google's open hostility for conservative thought is paired with invidious discrimination on the basis of race and gender, barred by law", the lawsuit alleges. "This unacceptable behavior occurred at the hands of high-level managers at Google who were responsible for hundreds, if not thousands, of hiring and firing decisions". "We look forward to defending against Mr. Damore's lawsuit in court", a Google spokesperson said in a statement. Travis Kalanick lost his job as Uber Technologies Inc.'s chief executive officer in June amid scandals over sexual harassment, discrimination and an aggressive culture.

Google fired Damore after he wrote a 10-page memo titled "Google's Ideological Echo Chamber: How bias clouds our thinking about diversity and inclusion".

This newspaper reached out to Google and this post will be updated.

Winfrey accepts Globes life achievement honor
Winfrey closed her magnificent speech with a promise for "the girls watching", telling them, "a new day is on the horizon". Winfrey became the first black woman to be given the award, which was presented in Beverly Hills, California.

Damore clarified his views in an interview with CNNMoney, noting that he was not "saying anything about the women at Google".

It alleges that Google singles out and punish employees like Damore who expressed views that don't align with how the majority of employees at the tech firm feel about politics and diversity efforts.

Gudeman was sacked in December 2016 after a confrontation with a Muslim coworker on an internal Google forum, according to the lawsuit. Earlier this month, four women plaintiffs as part of a revised lawsuit, alleged that the company had asked for their prior salaries and had underpaid them compared to their male counterparts.

This isn't much of a surprise, considering Damore publicly hired Harmeet K. Dhillon, the Republican National Committee's Committeewoman for California, back in August as his attorney. It also claimed that "men and women biologically differ in many ways" and "women generally (have) a harder time negotiating salary, asking for raises, speaking up and leading".

"People don't want to out themselves as conservatives", she said. I was truly shocked myself.
