Call of Duty: WW2 “The Resistance” DLC Coming in Early 2018

A Los Angeles man accused of making a hoax emergency call that led to the fatal police shooting of an unarmed man in Kansas was charged Friday with involuntary manslaughter. Barriss, who has previously faced charges of making fake bomb threats, was arrested in California on December 29 and extradited to Kansas yesterday.

In Kansas, involuntary manslaughter can be charged when a person kills another unintentionally but the death is the result of reckless conduct or a felony crime. He could end up with a felony conviction of 36 months in jail & a $300k fine. He was booked in Sedgwick County Jail on Thursday afternoon, according to The Wichita Eagle, and his bond is $500,000.

Barris placed a report of a murder and hostage situation with the Wichita police following a dispute between two Call of Duty players over a lost match.

The address was actually the home of Andrew Finch, who opened his front door when he saw that police were outside. Police claim that Finch moved his hands in a suspicious manner.

Barriss was also charged with giving false alarm and interference with law enforcement. She also said he wasn't a part of the gaming community.

For those unaware, "swatting" is when someone calls in a false police report that results in SWAT swarming in for an arrest, and Barriss has already faced prison time once before back in 2016. Finch appears to have no connection to the game or the dispute arising from it. The woman involved in the Calgary incident reportedly told police that Barriss targeted her because of her online presence, according to Rolling Stone. Barriss believed Finch's address to be that of a Call of Duty player that he was attempting to harass when another player commissioned him to do so.

Responding to a realistic-sounding 911 call, Calgary police believed a man had been shot and two others were being held hostage in the home.
