Two Students Reportedly Wounded in Shooting Outside Pierce County High School

Police respond to school shooting in Graham Washington

Two suspects in Tuesday's shooting outside Graham-Kapowsin High School were in custody Wednesday, and one more unidentified suspect was on the loose, the Pierce County Sheriff's Department said.

Pierce County Sheriff's Deputies patted down students and searched backpacks and other belongings before releasing them from the school.

The Pierce County Sheriff's Office says two students were shot at Graham-Kapowsin High School in Graham Tuesday afternoon.

"We are confident there are no shooters at the school or on the school grounds", sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer said about 3:45 p.m. The two males that were shot ran back to campus for help; one was found in the school parking lot and the other in a locker room.

Police believe the shooting occurred off school property.

They issued no details about their condition or whether they survived, but reported they were being taken to Tacoma General Hospital.

Troyer said authorities were not able to speak with the victims before they were transported to the hospital, but that they have a good idea of the events leading up to the shooting and are investigating motive.
