Nissan, DeNA schedule public tests of self-driving car service in Japan next year
The project combines Nissan's Intelligent Mobility technology, which ensures the robot vehicle navigates roads safely, with DeNA's experience in developing and operating self-driving mobility services using its experience in artificial intelligence and the internet.
Japanese auto giant Nissan has announced it will begin testing autonomous "robo-taxis" in Yokohama from March.
Nissan is most likely to have all of these problems worked out by 2020, as the Tokyo Olympics is set to be there I can see no reason why Nissan would pass up on the opportunity to promote their self-driving cars throughout this time. Nissan will ask the general public to participate as passengers through a booking application on smartphones, said Kazumasa Fujita, a manager at Nissan's corporate strategy department. And the APP cannot only enable users to set a destination, but also provide passengers information about nearby restaurants, hotels and other service information, allowing users to set driving directions. Customers can use a mobile app to complete the total process ranging from setting destinations and mobilizing vehicles to pay the fee.
Easy Ride is a robo-vehicle for customers who intend to travel freely to their destination.

Nissan and DeNA started a technical field test using an autonomous vehicle this year. Nissan and DeNA plan to support multiple languages and to use a remote monitoring system to ensure customer safety.
Elsewhere, DeNA has also been working on the rollout of self-driving shuttle buses in ritual communities - with the idea being that such services could be used to provide transportation for elderly residents in such locations.
The partners plan to carry out a public field test of the new Easy Ride mobility service in March next year. "With customers able to discover new local destinations through Easy Ride, the companies expect the service will also help energize cities and neighborhoods".
