Legal challenge over Mayor's plans to close police stations

The Pakistani-Britisher entered Punjab's capital Lahore from India via the Wagah Border Crossing and was given a rousing welcome on the Pakistani side of the border by Mayor Lahore Col (retd) Mubashar and senior government officials.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan on Thursday called on Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi at the PM House.

Khan is scheduled to travel to Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi during his three-day visit to Pakistan.

PM Abbasi told Khan that every Pakistani is proud of his election as mayor of London and prays for his success.

During his stay there, Khan had visited Delhi, Mumbai and Amritsar and met with politicians and celebrities.

Khan, earlier in the day, visited Golden Temple in Punjab. He said that successful counter-terrorism efforts have made Pakistan an opportune destination for British businesses.

During the meeting, both the leaders held discussion on trade and investment opportunities in Pakistan. The government, in collaboration with the Department for International Development of the United Kingdom, had already introduced far-reaching reforms in education, healthcare and skills development sectors. "I am happy to know that Pakistan's economy is growing", he said, while thanking the mayor for according him a warm welcome.

"We were advised against going to India and Pakistan on the same trip", Khan said.

Lahore's mayor thanked Mr Khan for visiting and shared that he wished to strengthen social and cultural ties with London.
