A source told Ken Sugiara of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the three UCLA players - Ball, Jalen Hill, and Cody Riley - will face 20 days of house arrest and then will be barred from visiting the country again. The others could not be reached. Ball and his team are now in the Asian country to play a preseason game against Georgia Tech scheduled on Friday.

The Hyatt Hangzhou, where UCLA and Georgia Tech players are reportedly staying ahead of Friday's season opener.

The players were arrested for allegedly shoplifting sunglasses from a Louis Vuitton store near the team hotel.

UCLA said it is "cooperating fully" with local authorities.

No further information about the UCLA players' status beyond Saturday's game in China was immediately released.

The Associated Press noted Wednesday that UCLA head coach Steve Alford said the players involved won't feature in the game against the Yellow Jackets, but he couldn't provide any additional details about their status.

"There is a lot of uncertainty around how long they will need to be in that position before there's some update on the situation", the source added.

Chinese foreign ministry officials previously said that the Chinese government had reported the incident to U.S. officials.

LaVar, Tina and LaMelo Ball went to China to watch LiAngelo play his first game as a Bruin and promote the opening of a Big Baller Brand pop-up shop in Shanghai.

In a video posted Wednesday on Twitter by ESPN writer Arash Markazi, LaVar Ball said his son LiAngelo would be fine.
