The CPCB's air quality index for Saturday (based on pollution levels till 5 pm) had a score of 403, as against Friday's 468. The levels of PM 2.5 and PM 10, which are ultrafine particulates, remained multiple times above the permissible limits, forcing people to breathe noxious air and triggering health complications.
Of the four satellite towns, Faridabad was marginally better with an AQI of 367, while Gurgaon (436), Noida (429) and Ghaziabad (486) fell in the "severe" category.
