Virginia Tech, Virginia get NCAA men's soccer bids
The West Virginia University women's soccer team, ranked No. 7 nationally, will host second- and third-round NCAA Tournament matches this weekend in Morgantown.
The Mavericks will play FIU on Thursday with No. 6 Duke awaiting the victor on Sunday. Akron, Indiana, Maryland and Virginia are the only programs that have qualified for the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship tournament in each of the past 11 seasons.The Zips look promising coming off their MAC Championship victory over Western Michigan. It's the first Omaha program, other than hockey, to advance to the NCAA Tournament.
Wisconsin earned a home match during the first round of the NCAA Championship on the strength of a 10-4-5 record, most recently drawing 0-0 with No. 2 seed IN and claiming the Big Ten tournament championship 4-2 IN penalty kicks on November 12.
