Padmavati, slated to release on December 1, has sparked enormous outrage with people demanding the film not be released to the point that petitions have also been submitted in the Supreme Court against the director. Yesterday only, Salman Khan backed the filmmakers as he said Bhansali will never show anyone in bad light. However, they would do so after the film is passed by the Censor Board.
Of the entire controversy surrounding Padmavati, the 31-year-old actress said, "It's appalling, it's absolutely appalling".
Mr.Vij also said sati (a practice wherein a widow immolates herself on her husband's funeral pyre) had been completely banned in India and nobody could be allowed to make and release a film promoting it.
This is to notice that some Rajput communities people and some ruling government ministers have also spoken about the film and they have targetted a rumoured dream sequence between Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji.
Dabangg star had worked with Bhansali in films like Khamoshi, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, and Saawariya. He always made heroines look good in his films, and there is no vulgarity in his films.
Meanwhile, actor Salman Khan also lent his support to Sanjay Leela Bhansali and said, "I want to say that you have Censor Board, they will take a decision".
On Monday, The Indian Films and TV Directors Association (IFTDA), along with four other bodies, came out in support for Bhansali with #WeSupportPadmavati campaign and sought protection of freedom of expression of artists. The members of all the association will stand in silence for 15 minutes from 11 a.m. The protest against the movie is at the peak and its release is certainly in danger. The period drama, starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, has been facing protests from various communal groups, including Shree Rajput Karni Sena, for allegedly tampering with historical facts.
