Apple AR Headset Running 'rOS' Rumored for 2019 Launch

Apple working on an AR headset powered by rOS for release in 2020, claims report
In addition to a predictable second version of the ARKit software tool collection reportedly planned for a 2018 release, those long-rumored Apple smart glasses might be starting to shape up, according to "people familiar with the situation" quoted today by Bloomberg. The chip itself is another challenge, with Apple's recent efforts at putting the maximum amount of processing power into the smallest possible space - first in the Apple Watch and most recently in the iPhone X - still not up to the challenge of being small enough to power a pair of glasses without being too bulky. It's unclear if this device will support VR in any way, but the report does state that the company is using the HTC Vive for testing and that a device similar to Oculus and Samsung's Gear VR using iPhone components is also being used (though isn't meant to be sold). Aetna workers are co-located at Apple's offices in Cupertino, he said, as the company looks to have a variety of apps ready in time for the January 1 start of the Apple Watch pilot program.
There is no comfirmation how Apple's AR device will be controlled, but the Bloomberg report suggested that the firm is investigating touch panels, voice-activation (via Siri) and head gestures.
Apple has always been rumored to be secretly working on a standalone augmented reality device.
Bloomberg's report claims that Apple is now using HTC's Vive virtual realityheadsets to test out all of its AR-related experiments. Cook believes that augmented reality will be able to change the current use of technology. The headset will "have its own display and run on a new chip and operating system" called "rOS", or "reality operating system", the report notes.

Reason Flu Vaccines Are So Lousy: They're Grown in Eggs
The 2016-2017 vaccine included a clade 3C.2a H3N2 strain, but the egg-adapted version of the viral strain lacked the new site. However, as the study was done on mice, more research needs to be conducted to determine if the vaccine works in human.
Earlier this year, Bloomberg reported that Apple started developing a team for AR-related projects about two years back. The headset will receive from Apple engineers special applications: from text and maps to 360-degree video playback. The headset will be capable of running its own apps, and have access to a dedicated version of Apple's app store.
If Cook is right, the next big disruptor in technology could be coming sooner than expected.
Cook has said he sees augmented reality to be a more important technology than virtual reality, which takes a user out of the real world and places them in an entirely digital one. Here's what we know about the device that could make that happen.
