"I screwed up. It's hard". It was a reverse Wild Card Game win.

Girardi said in hindsight he should've challenged the hit-by-pitch ruling in the sixth inning that led to Francisco Lindor's grand slam that sparked the Indians comeback win in extra innings.

After a thrilling victory in Game 1, the Cleveland Indians face old friend C.C. Sabathia and the New York Yankees on Friday night.

The obvious challenge never came. With Chad Green having problems on the mound, Cleveland hitter Lonnie Chisenhall took a fastball to the hands that loaded the bases for the Indians with a pair of outs. Additionally, this "groove" notion must be a new belief as anyone familiar with the Yankees knows Sanchez takes as many mid-inning trips to the mound as any catcher in the league. Replays confirmed the ball had nicked the bat and should have been called a foul-tip strike three.

Home plate umpire Dan Iassogna, however, saw it differently. No one was blaming Girardi for the game 1 loss (4-0 Indians), as it looked like simply a case of two mismatched teams.

Bump fire stocks found on Las Vegas shooter's guns
I have to hope the tragedy in Las Vegas gives some politicians pause before they take their next talking point from the gun lobby. Ron Johnson, the GOP chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, told reporters on Wednesday, according to The Hill .

However, Sanchez was calling out to have the call replayed from the moment it happened, so that in and of itself, should have told the Yankees skipper something was wrong. He is going against one of the best postseason managers in Terry Francona in this series.

Girardi is in the final year of his contract, and this one decision won't - and shouldn't - change the decision to bring him back. Francona, who trusted his gut and used No. 3 starter Trevor Bauer in Game 1 with dominant results, isn't going to screw up. Jay Bruce tied the game two innings later off David Robertson.

Within hours of the crushing loss, there were already rumors that the early elimination from the playoffs could lead to Joe Girardi being canned as Yankees manager.

CC Sabathia was rolling. The report noted that the Yankees had missed the playoffs three times in the four seasons before 2017 and Girardi could be on the chopping block without a strong performance in 2017.
