UP government plans to build 100-meter tall Ram statue in Ayodhya
Varanasi, Oct 10 Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik today said grand celebrations are planned for Diwali in Ayodhya this time but was not aware of the plans of the Yogi Adiyanath government to install a statue of Lord Rama on the banks of Saryu river.
The 100 metre tall statue will be built on the banks of River Saryu in Ayodhya. The state tourism department has already made a presentation to governor Ram Naik in this regard.
The communique added that the statue would be built at Saryughat after getting clearance from the National Green Tribunal.
Afterwards, the Governor Ram Naik and CM Yogi Adityanath would lay the foundation stone of various projects for development in Ayodhya.
State officials have told The Indian Express that the statue is proposed at a height of 100 metres, but it is not final and will depend on approval from the National Green Tribunal.
The installation of the Lord Rama statue is just one of the several steps the UP government is planning to take to promote tourism in Ayodhya, the birth place of Lord Rama.
For this project, The state government sent a detailed report of Rs 195.89 crore to the Tourism Ministry at the Centre and the Tourism Ministry provided Rs 133.70 crore to the state. In the years since, the party has never shied away from asserting that it would ensure the construction of a Ram Temple on the ground where the Babri Masjid once stood - which the BJP and its sympathizers claim was actually the site of an ancient temple built to mark the birthplace of the Hindu god.
A presentation on the preparations for Diwali celebrations in Ayodhya, was given by Awasthi. UP Governor Ram Naik will also attend, as will union Tourism Minister KJ Alphonse and Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma."Ayodhya has its importance, we can not neglect that".
Mr. Awasthi said the Tourism Department would also develop the Ram Katha Gallery, fix ghats, especially Guptar Ghat, where Lord Ram is believed to have taken a jal samadhi, develop a statue of Rani Ho, and install security features such as CCTVs.
