Uber begins appeal against licence rejection
It filed documents at the Westminster Magistrate's Court.
The business this morning filed its intent to appeal the decision with Westminster Magistrates' Court, which will temporarily extend its operations in the United Kingdom capital, an Uber spokeswoman told The Register.
A hearing on the appeal will likely take place on Dec.11, officials said.
Transport for London [TfL] shocked the Silicon Valley firm last month by deeming it unfit to run a taxi service and refusing to renew its licence, citing its approach to reporting serious criminal offences and background checks on drivers.
London mayor Sadiq Khan said on Thursday that the appeal against regulator Transport for London "will take its course" during a City Hall question time session.
Earlier this month, Uber's new chief executive Dara Khosrowshahi reportedly met with TfL commissioner Mike Brown for peace negotiations.
After talks with TFL, Uber released a statement saying that it was a "constructive meeting" and that there would be further discussions in the coming weeks.
