The Trump administration's extensive wish list includes funding a wall along the U.S. -Mexico border, overhauling the green card system and hiring 10,000 more immigration agents.

Congressional Hispanic Caucus chairwoman Michelle Lujan Grisham (D-New Mexico) also slammed Trump's proposal and said his "draconian and anti-immigrant principles jeopardize the bi-partisan, bi-cameral progress that has been made to pass a legislative solution that will protect almost 800,000 Dreamers", according to Fox News.

"We ask that these reforms be included in any legislation concerning the status of DACA recipients", said White House legislative affairs director Marc Short.

The status of almost 800,000 Dreamers was called into question in September when President Donald Trump rescinded the Obama-era program that had protected them, known as DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), giving Congress six months to enact the program into law.

Before the election and after winning the USA presidential vote Trump made a number of statements pledging to take a more hardline position as for undocumented migration to the United States and to proceed with the construction of a wall on the border with Mexico among other issues.

Since Trump took office in January, his fellow Republicans have failed to repeal and replace former Democratic President Barack Obama's Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare, and a White House plan for tax reform needs more support.

Border hawks praised President Donald Trump's shoot-for-the-moon list of demands as part of any deal to grant legal status to so-called "dreamers", even as Democrats went ballistic. "Amnesty is non-negotiable", Steve Bannon told 60 Minutes in his first interview since leaving the White House and returning to Breitbart. "This proposal fails to represent any attempt at compromise", Pelosi and Schumer added.

"We believe that in the next six months we could do a mobilization. where we could flood D.C. with hundreds of thousands of young people who will shut it down, both by numbers, and by massive civil disobedience", said undocumented organizer Thaís Marques, who announced the new project during a gathering of immigrant rights activists in Brooklyn, New York.

Senator Corker Likens White House to 'Adult Day Care'
He was also highly critical of the President's response to a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. Mr Trump responded by tweeting about Mr Corker's apparent hesitation about running for re-election.

Trump's list of demands included overhauling the country's green-card system, a crackdown on unaccompanied minors entering the country, and building his promised wall along the southern border.

Last month, Donald Trump tried cutting a deal with Democrats to pass a statutory version of the Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals (DACA), and wanted it badly enough that he was willing to put off negotiations for funding his top campaign promise.

Last month, Trump used his executive privilege to end protections for "Dreamers", the name given to around 690,000 immigrants in the USA that had been brought into the country illegally by their parents whilst they were young children.

The proposals will likely assuage immigration hardliners among Trump's base, many of whom were shocked last month after he appeared to be coming to a compromise with Democrats in Congress to extend DACA without conditions.

President Donald Trump meets with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and other Congressional leaders in the Oval Office of the White House, on September 6, 2017, in Washington.

He also said that the implementation of the initiative would result in a drastic decline of undocumented migration into the country.

Around that time, Trump had dinner at the White House with the two top congressional Democrats, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, and all emerged talking about the rough outlines of a deal.
