OnePlus accused of stealing user's private data

OxygenOS is Allegedly Data-mining Personally Identifiable Information for Analytics
In doing so, he noticed that his phone was connected to a OnePlus domain and transmitting incredibly detailed - and often very revealing - data back to the company. After diving more into the issue, Moore found that the phone also shared details like which apps were opened and at what time.
After some further investigation, Moore discovered that the code responsible for collecting the data was part of the OnePlus Device Manager and the OnePlus Device Manager Provider.
When OnePlus first hit the scene there was both hope and doubt that they would make it against bigger OEMs.
However, OnePlus though has been found collecting device and user data, and has been accused of doing so without asking permission. Recently some Chinese phone makers were in news after it was found that they were collecting user data.
However, it gets even more unnerving.
In an article published on his blog, Moore demonstrated how personal information coming from his phone was being transferred to OnePlus, without him having given his consent. OnePlus seems to have been caught because it has not been using users' permission. What's unsettling, however, is that Moore discovered that the data was not anonymized at all. Do you feel comfortable with OnePlus collecting this sort of data from your phone?
Even as this is happening, OnePlus has found itself in an awkward position, nearly similar to what we've seen before with respect to Chinese OEMs, where the owners of the company's OnePlus 5, OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T are apparently being monitored without their knowledge.
"We securely transmit analytics in two different streams over HTTPS to an Amazon server", the company said in a statement.
However, we advise our readers not to resort to this method of removing OnePlus Device Manager app, as it could affect the performance of your phone.
Users can turn off the transmission of usage activity by going to "Settings" "Advanced" "Join user experience program". About its second stream, the company said it is done to offer better after-sales support. For OnePlus device owners who have not rooted their smartphones, running the command "pm uninstall -k -user 0 net.oneplus.odm" while the device is plugged into a computer with ADB installed will disable the app sending the data to OnePlus, though with the risk that other functions will be affected.
Last year, Christopher Moore was taking part in a Hack Challenge and chose to run the web traffic from his OnePlus 2 through a proxy.
