U.S. academic Richard Thaler has been awarded this year's Nobel Prize in economics for his contribution to behavioural economics.

Kochov doesn't know Thaler personally but attended a summer seminar on behavioral economics that Thaler taught in Italy in 2010.

He is a professor at the University of Chicago - a school popular with the Nobel economics committee. "People make a lot of mistakes in important decisions in consumption-saving and portfolio choices", said Kochov, who is an economic theorist but teaches a class at UR using Thaler's behavioral economics theories.

The 72-year-old takes home a nine million kronor (944,000 euros, $1.1 million) prize sum.

Alex Micheal Ramos and Daniel Borden are the only two suspects arrested and charged with malicious wounding for attacking Harris . Zach Roberts, for Truthout, spoke with Lee Merritt , Harris's attorney and a legal specialist on police brutality and corruption.

Thaler co-authored a book with Harvard's Cass R. Sunstein called "Nudge: Improving Decisions about Health, Wealth, and Happiness".

However, when Thaler was informed by a tweep that the BJP-led NDA government had made a decision to introduce Rs 2000 notes in a remonetisation effort, the Nobel laureate said, "Really? I no longer will have to call my colleague Eugene Fama "Professor Fama" on the golf course", he joked, referring to his University of Chicago colleague who won the 2013 Nobel Economics Prize.

Influential in academic circles, the movie-going public may have noticed Thaler make a brief cameo in the 2015 film "The Big Short", explaining the so-called "hot-hand fallacy" where past success is expected to also warrant success in the future, with pop star Selena Gomez.

The United States has dominated the economics prize, with American economists accounting for roughly half of laureates since the inception of the award. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences noted that Thaler, in his applied work, demonstrated how nudging may help people exercise better self-control when saving for retirement, as well as in other contexts.
