Mother sentenced to jail time for going against court order, not vaccinating son

Judge orders Michigan mom 7 days in jail for not vaccinating her son

In response, Judge McDonald reminded Bredow that she agreed to the immunizations.

Rebecca Bredow was sentenced to 7 days in jail after she refused to vaccinate her 9-year-old son. Bredow's case first made headlines last week after her ex-husband took her to court over her refusal to vaccinate their son, despite agreeing to do so in November 2016, Fox 2 Detroit reported. She says vaccinations go against her beliefs and she should have raised her objections sooner.

She had a court hearing Wednesday morning in Oakland County Circuit Court, and had not yet followed through with the vaccination.

However, she later defied a court order to get the boy up to date with his jabs, and has been sentenced to seven days in prison as a result. "If my child was forced to be vaccinated, I couldn't bring myself to do it", Bredow said.

Rebecca Bredow is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday to find out if she will be behind bars for standing by her decision to not get childhood shots for her son.
