Official: No clear motive yet in Vegas shooting

Report Officials investigating possibility that another person was in Las Vegas gunman’s hotel room

According to CNN, gunman Stephen Paddock shot a security guard at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino about six minutes before a hail of bullets rained down on a country music concert across the street.

Six minutes later, Paddock began shooting on the crowd of 22,000 from his 32nd-floor suite, killing 58 people and injuring almost 500 more.

Campos was sent to the 32nd floor of the hotel to investigate a door alarm going off near Paddock's suite.

Campos was on "random patrol" as a security officer at the hotel when he found the shooter, said Liliana Rodriguez, who identified herself as a coworker of Campos' at Mandalay Bay on a GoFundMe page she set up for him.

Sheriff Lombardo said his department's initial account was "not completely inaccurate", and called the adjustments to the timeline "minute changes" that are common in a complex investigation.

Charles "Sid" Heal, a retired Los Angeles County sheriff's commander and tactical expert, said the new timeline "changes the whole perspective of the shooting".

They say they once again checked and documented the house where they found a cache of guns and potential explosives the day after the shooting. "We want to figure out the why to this, and we'd like to know the motive".

Conrade said he encountered police officers in the hallway when he tried to leave his room after the gunfire erupted.

There is no indication that anyone other than Paddock himself fired into the crowd, said Lombardo, adding that investigators were speaking to family members and partner of the gunman, Marilou Danley.

Investigators are yet to establish what may have compelled Paddock, who had no known links to radical groups and left no manifesto or messages, to carry out the massacre.

"I can tell you that this was a remarkable effort by a courageous and remarkable man", McMahill said.

Las Vegas police officers had been searching the hotel for the gunman and did not learn the guard had been shot until they met him in the hallway after getting off the elevator, the sheriff has said.

"It's because this individual purposely hid his actions leading up to this event, and it is hard for us to find the answers to those actions", Lombardo said.

Lombardo said Paddock was drilling a wall near a doorway but didn't finish.

Lombardo declined to reveal what they've said, but he stated, "Every piece of information we get is one more piece of the puzzle".

Lombardo also confirmed on Monday that federal investigators returned to search Paddock's home on Sunday in Mesquite, Nevada, as well as other property belonging to the suspect.

"Currently we do not believe that there is one particular event in the suspect's life for us to key on", he said. "He tried to make people happy; he tried to make people care and I don't know what happened to him".
