Chicago Bulls vs. Cleveland Cavaliers: Preseason live stream, Derrick Rose returns

Dwyane Wade's strong words last season were necessary for young Bulls who hold no hard feelings

During his two-and-a-half year career with the Cleveland Cavaliers, JR Smith was a staple of the starting lineup.

Last year, he missed three months of the regular season recovering from thumb surgery.

J.R. Smith said "absolutely" he is frustrated that he lost his place in the Cavaliers' starting lineup to Dwyane Wade, though neither he nor Tristan Thompson aim to make trouble now that they're both coming off the bench.

As a result, Smith wasn't happy, despite losing his job to a 12-time All-Star and three-time champion.

When asked why this revelation was just coming to light now, Rose replied, "I just wanted to see who had my back", presumably referring to members of the Bulls front office who could have corrected the perception that Rose was hands-off by telling the media about the video that was filmed.

"He was basically saying, 'Everybody is out here saying that I don't want you to come here and saying that we can't play together, '" James told The Athletic.

"Was pretty much bracing myself for it", continued Smith. "It is what it is".

"I actually like playing on the second unit better, I'm more of a playmaker and distributor and I handle the ball a little bit more instead of just running to the corner", he explained.

The changes were implemented by head coach LeBron James, who was also the first to inform Kevin Love that he would be starting at center this season.

LeBron weighed in on his buddy's new role and made it appear as though everything will continue to run smoothly.

"Obviously, he's a competitor, he wants to start", said James.

With this being said, it became obvious that J.R. "But at the end of the day, to win a championship, you've got to sacrifice".

A major determining factor for Lue was how Rose acquitted himself with the second unit when he played point guard with Cleveland's reserves in the Cavs' 106-102 preseason loss to the Indiana Pacers last week. "We're thankful to have him, especially with [Isaiah Thomas] being out, to have a guy like D-Rose to step in and be the starting point guard, how many teams have that luxury?"
