Al Green Files Impeachment Articles Against President Trump

Green was the first member of Congress to call for Trump's impeachment, which he did in May - a move that brought death threats to his office.
Among the grounds for Green's impeachment bid was Trump's response to the violence at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va.as well as his attacks on NFL players protesting police brutality by kneeling during the national anthem.
However he was not present to vote on the impeachment articles.
The latest to do so was Judd Apatow, who tweeted Wednesday morning that the president should be removed from office before he can start a war with North Korea. Green's articles of impeachment argue that Trump "is fueling an alt-right hate machine" which is "causing immediate injury to American society". "If any president persisted with the lie that 'Hitler was right, ' he would be, and should be, impeached not for a crime, but for betraying his trust as president". What makes this recent declaration different is that Green introduced a "privileged resolution", a document declaring that something (or, in this case, someone) goes against the integrity of the House, meaning the resolution should take precedence over the day's regular order of business. But when, less than an hour later, the House's presiding officer called the resolution up for action, Green did not appear on the floor to offer it.
After Green called for the president's impeachment in May (in a speech that led to him receiving racist voicemail messages saying Green should be lynched) California Democratic Representative Brad Sherman introduced articles of impeachment in July, although the articles never gained any traction in the House.

A woman's risk of breast cancer almost doubles if she has a first-degree relative who has been diagnosed with breast cancer . On Tuesday's Smart Talk we discuss breast cancer risks, the value of early detection and screening, and treatment options.
If Mr Green were to try and seek a vote on the issue, it could put many Democrats in a hard position.
Green can revive his effort and said in an interview that he plans to bring it back for a vote, but would not say when. This time, however, the House will have to vote on it.
"Any discussions I may have had are private, and I will not discuss them", Green told reporters Wednesday, adding that he felt "not one scintilla" of pressure from party leaders.
"It would be a disservice to the American people for it to be voted on immediately", he said.
This second round of impeachment articles against the president may have sounded impressive, but once again it has already turned out to be a lot of sound and fury, signifying nothing much of real importance.
