At least 12 Rohingya refugees, a lot of them children, drowned and scores more were missing Monday after their overloaded boat capsized.

Rohingya are fleeing widespread killings and the burning of their villages in Myanmar, in what United Nations officials have called a full-blown humanitarian crisis.

A siege mentality has developed, forging new alliances as many in Myanmar unite around criticism of foreign media and global NGOs, who they accuse of a pro-Rohingya bias.
Last week, an average of 2,000 people a day crossed from Myanmar to Bangladesh. Many Rohingya fear they will not be able to prove their right to return.
