Trump denounces 'loser terrorist' after London attack

Trump blasts 'loser terrorists' behind London train attack

President Donald Trump called Friday for a "tougher and more specific" U.S.travel ban after a homemade bomb exploded on a London train.

Trump on Friday also used the London train attack to renew calls for his controversial travel ban on travelers from several predominantly Muslim countries, which is the subject of fierce legal battles in the United States but has partially gone into effect.

In a tweet, the U.S. president said the perpetrators were "in the sights" of Scotland Yard and called for a "proactive" response. Trump accused the mayor on Twitter of suggesting there was "no reason to be alarmed" by the attack itself.

Unsurprisingly, British leaders- who have to actually deal with United Kingdom terrorist attacks, rather than just use them to build political capital- aren't too pleased.

"Loser terrorists must be dealt with in a much tougher manner".

Trump concluded: "Must be proactive & nasty!"

"We need to be smart, vigilant and tough".

On Friday morning, Trump indicated that he expected harsher penalties for terrorists.

It was not immediately clear who was behind the attack or whether the assailant or assailants had been on the radar of British intelligence, as Mr. Trump suggested.

A senior US government official cast doubt on whether Trump was privy to information over whether the bomber in the west London attack was known or not.

"It's a bad thing", he said of the London attack.

According to The New York Times, Trump's tweets only add to the strain that's been buckling the United States and UK's special relationship.

The president said he planned to call British Prime Minister Theresa May "right now".

Scotland Yard also dismissed the Trump's claims.

The whole event was a little surreal: the President had gone outside to watch an 11-year-old called Frankie Giaccio mow the lawn (Frankie had written to the White House asking if he could) and ended up talking global affairs.

The British Prime Minister, who described the attack involving an improvised explosive device (IED) on a Tube train at Parsons Green station as a "cowardly" act "clearly meant to cause significant harm", was addressing the media after chairing an emergency response COBRA committee meeting at Downing Street.

Recently, the Supreme Court allowed the Trump administration to maintain its ban on refugees. The 90-day travel ban on visitors from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen lapses in late September, and the 120-day refugee ban will expire a month later.
