-President Trump on Thursday signed a resolution condemning white supremacists and hate groups, hours after reviving his assertion that there were "bad dudes" among the people who assembled to oppose a white nationalist protest in Charlottesville, Virginia, last month.

On Thursday, Trump reiterated his point that left-wing Antifa groups also deserved condemnation for their acts of violence. On Thursday night, September 14, Trump signed the resolution, but if his signature was meant to make a statement, it only served to further contradict himself. Tim Scott, R-S.C., to discuss improving race relations, policy issues of specific concern to communities of color and Scott's pointed criticism of President Trump after his comments in response to the violence in Charlottesville, Va., Trump is standing by those remarks. President Donald Trump: "Oh, I think he's on board". "I said, 'you've got some very bad people on the other side also, ' which is true".

Additionally, the resolution urges the Attorney General (who would be none other than Jeff Sessions) to fully investigate all acts of domestic terrorism and violence by hate groups and prevent further attacks.

Lawmakers from Virginia said Congress spoke with "a unified voice" to unequivocally condemn the August unrest, in which a rally by far-right extremists turned violent and a counter-demonstrator was killed when a auto driven by a suspected white supremacist plowed into a crowd.

Trump's assertion post-Charlottesville that there was "blame on both sides" was roundly criticized for giving comfort to white supremacists and the KKK - including by Scott, the only black Republican now serving in the Senate.

Trump seemed pleased by his discussion with Scott, but not convinced.

As one user pointed out, the White House's official statement on Thursday regarding Trump's signing of the resolution did not mention any of the white supremacist groups listed in the resolution itself. Asked whether the senator had pressed him to add high-ranking African Americans to his White House staff and administration, Trump said: "We did talk about that, yeah". When you look at really what's happened since Charlottesville, a lot of people are saying and people have actually written, 'Gee, Trump may have a point'. We are a Nation founded on the truth that all of us are created equal.
