Seizing a second chance to play the first round at the Evian Championship, Park fired an 8-under 63 to lead by two shots from Moriya Jutanugarn of Thailand.

Park took advantage of the ultimate Evian mulligan when LPGA officials made a decision to wipe away first-round scores after a weather suspension of nearly 4 1/2 hours at the course overlooking Lake Geneva.

Ryu suffered a six-shot swing having been 2 under and sharing the lead with Korda on Thursday when play stopped. The nine-time LPGA victor announced earlier this year that the Evian Championship would be her final tournament before retiring from the game.

"When I usually don't play well, I just try to do better and focus on the game, and that's what I'm hoping for every round, and that's what I'm going to keep on doing and focus on the game", said Park.

"But hey, I'll take three-under for the first round".

Korda's frustration after seeing Sung Hyun Park's reversal and Katherine Kirk's comeback from a five-over Thursday start after a nasty run in with a hazard on No. 9 was clear.

Korda, who had tweeted her disappointment at losing her lead to the conditions on Thursday, said she managed to re-focus. Her highest finish this season came on her last start-a T-5 at the Cambia Portland Classic in August.

"It actually feels good", Miyazato said after the first round.

"Right now, nothing to lose and no fear, and just feel joy of my game, and that's definitely helping", said the 32-year-old Miyazato, who had made a three-over start to Thursday.

Anna Nordqvist yet again posted an impressive performance despite battling mononucleosis. I would be lying if I didn't say I was surprised the scores were wiped out.

The illness hit her hardest around the U.S. Open, where she finished T-33.

Park was strong on the front nine, but she seemed to get better as the round went on, playing her final nine holes at six-under.

Korda is making her first start since withdrawing after the first round of the Ricoh Women's British Open with a left forearm injury, which caused her to miss the Solheim Cup.

American Paula Creamer, the 2005 victor at Evian, had to pull out with a wrist injury that had started to cause trouble earlier in the week. I mean, would I love to play 72? Yes.
