Jon Jones: 'The Truth is I Would Never do Steroids'

16 September 2017, 01:18 | Andy Ferguson

UFC Dana to the rescue

It took some convincing but Daniel Cormier's doing the right thing following Jon Jones controversy

"UFC was informed Wednesday that the result of the UFC 214 bout between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier on July 29 was overturned by the California State Athletic Commission". Shortly after, it was revealed that Jones failed his drug test for turinabol. Jones posted to Twitter on Thursday after his "B" sample from the test confirmed initial results and he was stripped of the UFC light heavyweight title.

If there is anyone in the UFC who should be acutely aware of the penalties for getting caught with random, unexplained banned substances in your system when USADA comes calling it's Jonathan Dwight Jones.

After knocking out Cormier in the third round of UFC 214's headliner, Jones seemed to turn over a new leaf with his longtime rival.

Jones, 30, was previously banned for a year after failing a doping test in the run-up to a title fight against Cormier in July, 2016.

One year later, they're arguing that it has happened again.

He has also been in fine form for Spain, scoring three goals in recent wins over Italy and Liechtenstein. Adriana Garcia is a Valencia-based football writer who covers La Liga for ESPN FC.

"Guys now I call upon you to take a breathe [sic], lay off of Jones".

Jones has the resources to ensure that he knows exactly what he's putting in his body.

Is it time-consuming? Yes. I tend to think so, but maybe that's just me.

Coach Mike Winklejohn has been at the side of Jones for the majority of his professional MMA career, but he even doubts whether Jones would fight again after serving such a long potential suspension. Because of the drug result, the UFC gave Jones a disqualification loss. His team didn't, either. I've been in the USADA program for 12 years.
