Next time you are temporarily switching devices and platforms, do keep in mind to use the account with an Android device again before its expiration data to avoid losing apps and backup data. However, Reddit user Tanglebrook found that's certainly not the case.
Google's default backup will best serve the average users' needs, but there are caveats to it, just like with any other backup solution, according to experts.

All the Android data you store on GoogleDrive and leave unused gets an expiration date and is finally deleted by Google after 2 months.
So if you head away on vacation for a couple of weeks, leaving your phone at home, by the time you return from your time away, Google has already started the countdown to deleting your data. It is true that the data deleted is permanently wiped off and never accessible, there is a scenario where your data is unharmed.
A lot of us frequent phone changers have gotten used to keeping backups on GoogleDrive due to its convenience. However, it will be of concern for some Android users who've stored back-ups on old devices and switched to iOS.
