Donald Trump issues new warning to North Korea

As Trump heads to UN, advisors say North Korea hasn't fully felt sanctions yet

Steve Bannon

North Korea has launched dozens of missiles under Kim Jong Un's leadership to accelerate a weapons programme created to give it the ability to target the United States with a powerful, nuclear-tipped missile.

Trump's remarks came after North Korea fired a ballistic missile over the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido earlier on Friday, the latest in a stream of missile tests that have looked to defy the worldwide community.

Earlier this week, the UN Security Council agreed to tighten sanctions on North Korea, banning its textile exports and capping fuel supplies.

National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster joined Haley in speaking to the White House press Friday in the aftermath of North Korea firing a ballistic missile over Japan, the latest in a series of provocative acts by the rogue country.

Though they were not their top choices for the region, Haley and McMaster said, they were available to the President.

Treasury: Mnuchin requested plane for secure communications
A watchdog group sued the federal government for records of Mnuchin's trip on the suspicion of "misuse of government resources". Mitch McConnell , R-Ky., was primarily to discuss tax reform and also tour the nation's store of gold at Fort Knox.

But he said that while the USA did have a "military option", it was not the preferred route, adding that the U.S. is keen to work with allies on measures "short of war".

"It's not what we would prefer to do, so what we have to do is call on all nations, call on everyone to do everything we can to address this global problem short of war", he said, flanked by U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley.

"We ought to make clear what's different about this approach is that we're out of time", McMaster said.

It was the second time North Korea fired a missile over Japan, and follows days after the country's sixth and largest nuclear test to date.

"For those who have said, and been commenting about a lack of a military option, there is a military option..." And at that point there is not a whole lot the security council is going to be able to do from here when you have cut 90% of the trade and 30% of the oil.
