Maryland Jobless Rate Dips To Point Not Seen Since Before Recession

Unemployment dips only slightly in Massachusetts, but that's a first for 2017

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development says the state lost 4,900 private sector jobs last month, although private sector employment has grown by more than 25,400 over the past year.

In Tulare County, the August unemployment rate was 10.6 percent, down from 10.7 percent in July but above 10.4 percent a year ago.

The state's unemployment rate increased for the second straight month after coming close to an all-time low at 3.1 percent in May and June.

Employment in four sectors declined. Most of the expansion occurred in administrative and support services (+5,200), a subsector which includes employment agencies. The leisure and hospitality segment posted the largest monthly decrease, down 12,400 jobs, followed by professional and business services with a loss of 11,500.
