Nick Kyrgios has ripped apart the veneer of friendship between him and fellow Australian Bernard Tomic, saying his former Davis Cup teammate has "lost his way" and "doesn't make sense".

Kyrgios has penned a typically forthright column for the new website PlayersVoice, where Australian sportspeople write unfiltered, first-person content. Australia's most recent win was in 2003 when they defeated Spain in the final.

Belgian number one David Goffin declared himself fully fit on Thursday ahead of his country's Davis Cup semi-final against Australia this weekend.

The tie between Australia and Belgium will be broadcast live and free on Channel Seven's 7TWO on Friday night, Channel 7 and 7mate on Saturday night (check your local guides) and 7TWO on Sunday night.

Ruben Bemelmans and Arthur De Greef will play the doubles rubber for Belgium on Day 2. The Belgians will be led by David Goffin and Steve Darcis. Hewitt has the option of using Thompson should he wish to mix things up for the reverse singles but can't name a player from outside the four-man team. His record is less convincing on clay, though, at 1-3, including a loss in the doubles.

In Osaka, Japan took a stranglehold of their Davis Cup world group playoff with Brazil on Friday as Yuichi Sugita and Go Soeda won the opening day's singles, albeit in contrasting fashion. He has created history when representing his country before, however.

One year later, they're arguing that it has happened again. " Guys now I call upon you to take a breathe [sic], lay off of Jones". Jones has the resources to ensure that he knows exactly what he's putting in his body.

A huge net cord at break point down went the way of Kyrgios at the start of the decider and, perhaps sensing it was his day, the Australian showcased his talent - encapsulated with a double-handed backhand victor with both feet off the floor en route to a gutsy victory.

As it always is, the doubles rubber will again be a key rubber and the Aussies have the decided advantage with doubles specialist John Peers at their disposal, the world's second ranked doubles player.

Despite his strong form on the world stage, Peers was overlooked by a succession of Davis Cup captains until Hewitt took over and gave him his debut against the United States of America a year ago. Australia will fancy their chances in the doubles, meaning that if Kyrgios can win his two singles matches, Australia will be moving on to the final.

France, who secured their ticket to the semi-finals after seeing off Great Britain 4-1 in the last eight, are seeking a 10th title but first in 16 years.

In the second rubber, Steve Darcis gave Kyrgios all he could handle early and even took the lead after a close third set, coming from behind to win the tie-break.
