ICYMI: Court: Medical marijuana transport case can advance
The DOH said 26,500 patients in NY are certified to use medical marijuana, and 1,155 practitioners have been certified to participate in the program.
Additional medicines in the form of lotions, ointments, patches, tablets, and lozenges will be allowed.
Five medical marijuana dispensaries will be setting up shop in New York, with two to come to Nassau County, according to an Aug 1 announcement from The New York State Department of Health.
Last week, the state Health Department announced the addition of five new companies to the program, with the intention of making products more accessible and affordable.
The regulations will allow certified patients to visit dispensaries with individuals other than their designated caregivers, which was previously prohibited.
Mattis warns North Korea not to invite 'destruction'
"The DPRK should cease any consideration of actions that would lead to the end of its regime and the destruction of its people". Addressing reporters' questions in Mountain View, Mattis said that the effort to contain North Korea is "diplomatically led".
Officials hope some rule changes will improve program experience for patients, practitioners, and manufacturers.
Along with the product changes, the new regulations also make changes for doctors and dispensaries.
Last week, the state approved five new companies to manufacture and distribute the drug, adding to the five that began operating a year ago.
Also coming to New York will be New York Canna, Valley Agriceuticals and Citiva Medical. That will kick off a 30-day public comment period, after which the Health Department can officially adopt the rules. The agency said the number of certified patients has increased 77 percent since the addition of chronic pain as a qualifying condition in March.
