Chelsea's Lewis Baker a target for Middlesbrough loan move

Lewis Baker of Vitesse Arnhem looks on during the Dutch KNVB Cup Semi-final match between Sparta Rotterdam and Vitesse Arnhem held at Het Kasteel or The Castle

Following their relegation last season, Middlesbrough have already lost the likes of Gaston Ramirez and Viktor Fischer to Sampdoria and Mainz respectively and they now look set to lose another player this summer, as the Italian side are close to signing the Dutch midfielder.

"It's going to be an exciting season", Baker told the club website.

"This opportunity arose and I thought it would be a great one for me", he said.

"We'll see where that will get to within the coming days". "I'm going to give it my all and hopefully we get back to where we should be".

"They have played an incredible season, the best ever, and what they have achieved last season was insane".

Sonia to chair opposition leaders' meeting on Friday, Sharad invited
Before she left for the capital on Thursday afternoon, she said, "Tomorrow there is a meeting of anti-BJP policital parties". However, no one from the party turned up to attend the meeting.

However, in hindsight the plan seems to have always been to farm him out to another club once again.

If Baker was to move to Boro he would be another notable addition for Garry Monk's side.

Boro had been keen to keep Marten de Roon, who played in the opening game of the season, but they will have to do without the central midfielder this season. Baker scored 15 goals in 39 appearances for the Eredivisie outfit last term which includes a number of spectacular long range efforts. He had joined Atalanta from Heerenven in summer 2015.

The Championship is arguably the most competitive football league on the planet, and there is no better place for Baker to prepare for life in the Premier League.
