Joe Flacco's back issue will sideline him for preseason, expected to start Ravens' opener
Joe Flacco will not play in the preseason, but the Ravens plan for him to start the regular-season opener in Cincinnati on September 10, the team announced. There was some optimism that it might be shorter, but with the preseason underway, the Ravens are choosing the route of caution.
Flacco was re-examined and his progress from a back issue "is good", according to a statement from the team.
Quarterback Joe Flacco will not play in any preseason games, but is expected to be under center for Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals on September 10.
Flacco has yet to take a snap this summer because of a bad back. At this point, the team did say they're encouraged by the progress the DE product has made.
