Guardiola says he's not moved by talk that Man City are favourites

12 August 2017, 04:34 | Andy Ferguson

Guardiola, who for the first time in his career ended last season without a medal, has spent more than £200m on players this summer.

New signing Benjamin Mendy and long-term injury victim Ilkay Gundogan are unavailable to face Brighton, and Guardiola is wary of the challenge Chris Hughton's side will pose.

It has been another strong showing of City's financial muscle but Guardiola insists the club have only paid market rates and such major rebuilding work is a one-off.

"We are going to see at the end of the season what happens", he indicated.

"The last six or seven years Manchester City didn't buy full backs".

"We needed to do that this summer because it was one of the oldest teams in Europe, not just the Premier League. Players here now are so young and will stay for the future".

Required Viewing: The Opening of Last Night's Rachel Maddow Show
Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., urged Democrats to "park their hatred of Donald Trump " while the threats by North Korea loom. That's all preferred, is getting that to work rather than the military option.

"I don't [think] there's extra pressure on me", he said.

Guardiola will be hoping to improve upon last season's third placed finish. "I know it's a big responsibility considering I have become one of the most expensive goalkeepers". We were not able with those players to find a solution.

"I think soon [they will be back] but not for this game". But the solution is not changing players every season.

The Premier League legend said on BBC Sport: "Chelsea I do sense, there is something brewing there, which isn't nice". "We are here to win the games and titles". I'm going to be fearless and say the game will finish 4-0.

Express Sport has had a go at predicting how each of the weekend's fixtures will play out - do you agree? I feel the same pressure at Barcelona when I arrived.

Speaking on his chances in the upcoming PL, the ex Bayern Munchen boss said; "Last season at my first press conference we were favourites, so nothing has changed". "We are going to see at the end of the season what happens, knowing how hard it is".
