Police report spurs call for R. Kelly investigation in Atlanta

Not Released

In a new statement sent to USA TODAY by Kelly's rep, Trevian Kutti, the singer said he is "outraged" by efforts of the county board and Eaves "to interfere with his business interests and now, absent any authority, attempt to have him targeted for investigation".

A BuzzFeed report detailed claimed that the R&B star was holding women in what multiple people described as a "cult" - something he fiercely denied.

John Eaves is a mayoral candidate in Atlanta, as well as the chairman of the Fulton County Commission.

Eaves said he has not seen the contents of the investigative report, but said he's confident that prosecutors will have ample evidence to launch a full investigation.

The allegations against R. Kelly are getting deeper, and his case is becoming highly concerning as more alleged details surface.

To that end, and considering the outrage over the ensuing August 25 concert by R. Kelly at Wolf Creek Amphitheater in College Park, Fulton County Chairman John H. Eaves will hold an emergency news conference this morning and call for a full criminal investigation by the Fulton County District Attorney's Office. Earlier on Friday, John Eaves, chairman of Georgia's Fulton County, called for a criminal investigation of the singer, citing evidence collected by local police around allegations that the singer is holding women against their will in a house located in the county.

The allegations center around a former Memphis resident.

One of the women, whose family claims she is being held against her will, later spoke to TMZ by video chat to say she was "in a happy place with my life and I'm not being brainwashed or anything like that".

As of Friday, R. Kelly is still scheduled to perform at the Wolf Creek Amphitheater Aug. 25.

The Grammy-winning singer is accused of having sexual relationship with Joycelyn Savage and several other women in an arrangement in which he allegedly controls them and cuts them off from the outside world at his Atlanta-area compound.

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted to approve a letter to Live Nation requesting the cancellation of Kelly's upcoming concert.
