Eight army personnel among 15 martyred in Quetta's Pishin stop blast
Pakistan Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa condemned the attack in Quetta which he called "an attempt to mar Independence Day festivity" in the country, as per The Express Tribune.
The army truck was passing by Quetta's Pishin Stop area of the city when it was targeted by the explosion. "Our resolve won't succumb to any challenge", Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor tweeted.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that an on-duty security vehicle was targeted in the blast, adding that 10 security officials were also among those injured in the attack. ISPR said "Incendiary explosive was used in the blast due to which nearby vehicles caught fire", as per DawnNews. "Fifteen people including seven civilians were martyred", the statement said.
Security forces have cordoned off the blast site for investigations.
The injured were shifted to the Combined MIlitary Hospital, added the ISPR.
Provincial home minister Sarfraz Bugti and government spokesman Anwar ul Haq Kakar confirmed the death toll and put the number of wounded at 32.
Casualties were also confirmed by rescue and hospital sources.
