For the first time, AI crushed a professional Dota 2 player at the game's biggest tournament
OpenAI says its next goal is to build a team made up of five bots that can hold its own against a team of top human players. Not shockingly, Elon Musk was watching along and had some thoughts of his own, calling unregulated AI vastly more unsafe than North Korea.
To test out some harmless uses for AI, one Open AI team taught a bot to play Dota 2.
But in between yesterday's games at The International 7, a special kind of bot showed off its advanced skills against some of the world's most well-known Dota players.
Musk tweeted that the OpenAI bot was the first one to defeat the world's best eSports players, with a game that is more complex than traditional board games such as chess and Go. Teams of players use powerful characters, called "heroes", to battle each other.
Greg Brockman, himself, appeared to be impressed by the success of the method.
Iheanacho to Lead City's Attack against Arsenal
Asked if Giroud could still leave before the transfer window closes on August 31 until January, Wenger replied: "No". Again a set-piece proved Arsenal's undoing as Mahrez's in-swinging corner from the right was nodded in by Vardy.
"We've coached it to learn just from playing against itself", said OpenAI researcher Jakub Pachoki. Footage of those matches can be found on Dota 2 Rapier's YouTube channel.
Then, Brockman said, it was time to put the bot to the test at The International, which is Dota 2's world championship.
It bested Dendi - who's somewhat of a celebrity in the gaming community - in two short rounds.
The bot went up against famous midlaners Danil "Dendi" Ishutin, Syed "Sumail" Hassan, and Artour "Arteezy" Babaev in three mid-only Shadow Fiend mirror matches. Afterwards, Dendi admitted he was surprised at how easily the bot beat a human player, adding that it felt "a little like human, but a little like something else". "But it has no room for even slight mistakes", he wrote.
Dota is a great testbed for artificial intelligence. OpenAI is now working on a 5 on 5 bot as well. Right now, the company had just developed one single bot.

As Trump Threatens, US Negotiates With North Korea
