CINCINNATI OH- AUGUST 11 Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicker Roberto Aguayo runs into the locker room at halftime during the preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium on August 11th 2017 in Cincinnat

Aguayo set an NCAA record with Florida State for accuracy, prompting the Buccaneers to trade up to draft him.

Roberto Aguayo converted 1-of-2 field goals and missed an extra point in the Bucs' preseason opener. Folk converted 82.2 percent of his field goal attempts during his seven seasons in NY.

Aguayo, whose 71 percent field goal percentage was the worst in the National Football League as a rookie, likely sealed his fate by missing and extra point and a 47-yard field goal attempt in Friday's preseason loss at Cincinnati.

FSU coach Jimbo Fisher suggested previous year changes to Aguayo's kicking routine may have contributed to his inconsistency.

Aguayo is now in a kicking competition with Nick Folk. He only made 22 of his 31 field goal attempts (71 percent) and his career-long make was only 43 yards.

Aguayo sat alone for a few minutes after dressing at his locker following Friday's game.

"Honestly, the extra point felt good". Less than a day after the kicker missed a field and PAT in the Buccaneers' 23-12 preseason loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, the team announced they had waived him. Not what you want. It was starting down the line and it just kept fading. I want to change this. You wanted to come out and be flawless. I've just got to put it in the past.

But it turned out to be his last in a Bucs uniform.

"That's something that will definitely be talked about", Buccaneers coach Dirk Koetter said after the game.

"You know, I keep saying it, I can't say it anymore", Koetter said. 'Well, this guy said I could get 5 more yards.' I said, 'Did any of those guys make 23 of 24 or 25 of 26 or whatever the heck you did and win the Groza?' I said, 'Why are you listening to them?
