"They were harmful to a set of individuals in society of course, but they were not harmful to society as a whole", Musk told Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval on Saturday.

The founder of electric carmaker Tesla also pressed some governors to revisit state franchise dealership laws that ban the direct sale of the company's models to consumers.

Musk, who says he's against overregulation in general, believes USA regulators should start to look at the AI space "pronto", lest shareholders begin to urge companies to develop the technologies faster. Musk said the surging popularity of AI technologies is a "fundamental risk" the humankind is about to face in the coming years.

"Probably in 10 years, more than a half of new vehicle production is electric in the United States", said Musk, adding "half of all production will be EV, I think nearly all cars produced will be autonomous". "Because I think by the time we are reactive in AI regulation, it's too late", Must said, via CNet. "Because I think by the time we are reactive in AI regulation, it's too late".

Hollywood mourns the death of horror icon George A. Romero
The 77-year-old Romero is survived by current wife Suzanne Desrocher Romero and several children from previous marriages. The director and writer was ever the philosopher when it came to the horror genre.

Specifically, Musk thinks that AI can potentially start a war via "fake news and spoofing email accounts and fake press releases, and just by manipulating information", which explains his fear of the technology. Otherwise the [corporate] shareholders will be saying, 'Why aren't you developing AI faster? "The pen is mightier than the sword".

Musk has long warned of the dangers posed by AI, signing a letter published by the Future of Life Institute in January supporting the Asilomar AI Principles to ensure the development of artificial intelligence that is beneficial to humanity.

Meanwhile, Bill Gates echoed the sentiments during an AMA in 2015 when he said, "I am in the camp that is concerned about super intelligence", adding, "First, the machines will do a lot of jobs for us and not be super intelligent". Musk noted that there was a big difference between a 5-year timeframe and a 10-year timeframe, saying that innovation will grow exponentially. The country needs to keep its word.

And while I don't doubt the sincerity of Musk's views, I'm not sure painting pictures of killer robots stomping down the street is going to take the governing elite much further on from the normal labored allusions to The Terminator or Doctor Who's Cybermen that seem a necessary element of most political debates around the subject of AI.
