PLA brigade responsible for frontline combat operations held live fire drills in Tibet.

Days after the Ministry of External Affairs said that diplomatic channels were "being used" to defuse the stand-off with China in Doklam in the Sikkim region, Chinese state media indicated on Saturday that there was "no room for negotiations" and withdrawal of Indian troops was the pre-condition for any diplomatic solution.

The exercise effectively tested the brigade's joint strike capability on plateaus, according to the press release.

The standoff at Sikkim erupted in mid-June, after the Indian forces prevented the road construction party of China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) from entering Doklam, lying at the tri-juncture of India, China and Bhutan.

"India should not regard the existing situation as the same as or even similar to the previous two stand-offs in 2013 and 2014 near Ladakh, a disputed area between China, Pakistan and India in southeastern Kashmir".

The drill was held in the Tibet Autonomous Region in the middle and lower reaches of Yarlung Zangbo river, which "is located in the upper stream of the Brahmaputra river which flows through China, India and Bangladesh".

The video also showed radar units identifying enemy aircraft and soldiers using anti-aircraft artillery to destroy targets, the report said.

A fully-staffed and equipped brigade engaged in various drills involving the rapid movement of troops, use of digital devices and combined attacks by multiple forces, according to a China Central Television station (CCTV) report.

On July 10, Tibet's mobile communication agency conducted a drill in Tibet's capital Lhasa, where members of the agency practiced setting up a temporary mobile network to secure communications in an emergency.

Earlier reports said the PLA units exercised in Tibet with several modern weapon systems including a new light battle tank being manufactured by China.

The Indian Army is ready for a long haul in holding onto its position in the Dokalam area near the Bhutan tri-junction, notwithstanding China ratcheting up rhetoric against India demanding pulling back of its troops. China also claims it as part of its Donglang region.

India maintained that the boundary is yet to be settled and asked China "to desist from changing the status quo", referring to the road construction.
