The two will share the data at this year's United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, held in Germany.
Governor of USA state of California Jerry Brown and former Mayor of NY city Michael Bloomberg on Wednesday jointly launched a new initiative, known as "America's Pledge", to continue the cause set by the Paris Agreement on climate change.
The initiative will outline a roadmap for increased climate action and show the global community how they can help the United States deliver on the Paris pledge regardless of the Trump exit, they said.
It's the latest effort by cities and states and Brown in particular to fight back against President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw the United States from the worldwide pact.
Brown, a Democrat, and Bloomberg, a Republican-turned Independent, have both played an outsized role on the world stage when it comes to fighting global warming.
Still, last month in an effort to fill a climate leadership void, Bloomberg, a United Nations envoy on cities and climate change, committed $200 million to support city initiatives including projects to combat global warming through a grant program called the American Cities Initiative.
Under the Paris deal, former President Barack Obama's administration had vowed to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 26 percent to 28 percent below 2005 levels by 2025.

Since the White House announcement of its intention to withdraw from the Paris Agreement, an unprecedented number of USA states, cities, businesses, and colleges and universities have reaffirmed their support for the Paris Agreement through collaborations including the "We Are Still In" declaration, the Climate Mayors coalition of cities, the US Climate Alliance group of states, and others.
Governors, mayors and other leaders have pledged to uphold that target even without the White House's commitment.
The new pledge will record and track those individual commitments and measure their cumulative effect on reducing emissions.
The initiative will aim to quantify the impact of the efforts business and local and state governments, in collaboration with the Rocky Mountain Institute and the World Resources Institute (WRI).
Bloomberg Philanthropies has also committed to separately fund America's Pledge, Antha Williams, a spokeswoman for the group told the Thomson Reuters Foundation in a phone interview.
The Climate Group's RE100 initiative, working to accelerate its member companies' transition to 100% renewables, reached its 100 members milestone.
