Bihar Mahagathbandhan: RJD leaders urge Nitish Kumar, Lalu Prasad to resolve crisis
17 July 2017, 02:27 | Anna Nguyen
BJP not in favour of snap polls in Bihar Sushil Modi
The Chief Minister may ask Tejashwi, Lalu's son, to resign or dismiss him, or Nitish may himself offer to resign and take the moral high ground.
He also said that an important part of the Mahagatbandhan JD (U) will be voting for the BJP presidential candidate tomorrow but people of Bihar are politically aware and can not be fooled easily.
The CBI also conducted raids on 12 premises of Lalu and others, including at Patna, in connection with the case on July 7. The statement came amid the speculation that Nitish Kumar might take some strong decisions regarding the grand alliance in the state after the Presidential election that is now going on. Although the JD (U) reiterated that it had not set any deadline to decide the next course of action, there is speculation that Nitish would make some move after Presidential election on Monday. After that, sources said, the Congress will look at whether Tejashwi Yadav can be purged by Nitish Kumar or whether "coalition dharma" requires a voluntary opt-out by the young politician.
There have been talks of two options for Nitish if Lalu Prasad did blink first. Another Congress leader and minister Awadhesh Singh said on Sunday: "People of the country are looking up to Nitish Kumar, who can emerge as a national leader". Those who are threatening of having 80 MLAs with them should not be in any kind of confusion.
"Power is least important for us", he said adding that the party was not satisfied with Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav's response over allegations of corruption.
Shinkwin, two more qualify for Open at Birkdale
The other players to earn a start in the year's third Major were Matthieu Pavon of France and Andrew Dodt of Australia. Dodt fell out contention on the back nine, carding a one-over par 73 to finish at eight-under.
Tejashwi is one of the eight persons, including his parents Lalu and Rabri Devi, who figures in the FIR lodged by the CBI on July 5 in the railway hotels for land deal when the RJD chief was the railway minister in the Congress-led UPA-1 government at the Centre.
Leaders of both the alliance partners are of the view that Nitish and Lalu should sit, talk and resolve issues rather than allowing the Opposition an easy opportunity to take advantage of their differences.
The Janata Dal (United) on Sunday expressed displeasure that Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav had not shown the "basic courtesy" to meet his "boss" Nitish Kumar and present the facts in the assets case he is facing.
Another senior RJD leader and former MP Shivanand Tiwari has appealed to Nitish Kumar to end the crisis.
