Trump insists there's no proof he colluded with Russian Federation

20 Июня 2017, 11:03 | Terri Saunders

Trump took to his Twitter account Thursday morning to denounce the report.

CNN is suing the Justice Department for copies of fired FBI Director James Comey's personal memos on his interactions with President Donald Trump.

At a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing last week, Coats and Rogers refused to say whether Trump asked them to intervene in the investigation, which is also examining whether the Trump campaign team colluded with Russian Federation during last year's presidential campaign.

Mark Corallo, a spokesman for Mr Trump's legal team, on Wednesday denounced the report, saying: "The FBI leak of information regarding the President is outrageous, inexcusable and illegal".

Trump admitted in an interview with NBC News' Lester Holt days after Comey's ousting on May 9 that the Russian Federation investigation influenced his decision to terminate him.

At a congresional hearing last week, Comey confirmed that he told Trump three times that Trump was not being investigated as part of the Russia-collusion probe, and Trump tweeted "total and complete vindication" at that time.

The inquiry's apparent expansion to target Trump reportedly focuses on whether the president attempted to obstruct the investigation - in particular, on Trump's reported attempts to encourage former FBI director James Comey to end an investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

Examining such possible charges will allow investigators to interview key administration figures, including Attorney-General Jeff Sessions, Deputy Attorney-General Rod Rosenstein and possibly Mr Trump himself, said the source familiar with Mr Mueller's investigation.

Trump was strongly critical of some of Comey's testimony but said Comey had vindicated him by saying while he was at the agency, Trump was not the subject of the FBI's Russian Federation probe.

Earlier this week, the investigation led by special counsel Robert Mueller appeared to move closer to Trump.

Trump could be seething and obsessing even more in the coming days.

The president also called out the "Fake News Media" and boasted of his "very powerful "social media numbers, in his Friday morning tweets".

Earlier this week the Washington Post released a story reporting Mueller is investigating President Trump for obstruction of justice.

Late Thursday, reports surfaced Vice President Mike Pence hired a lawyer to assist him through probes into whether there were ties between Trump's election campaign and Russian Federation.

It was not immediately clear what prompted the release of that statement by Rosenstein, whether it was in response to recent stories that suggested the President was under investigation for obstruction of justice, or some other reason.
