BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty open higher
Around 1 p.m., the wider Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose by 39.80 points or 0.42 per cent to trade at 9,627.85 points. BSE Sensex opened 80.96 points or 0.26% higher at 31,392.53 points, while NSE Nifty, the broader gauge, opened 12.95 points or 0.13% higher at 9,670.50 points.
Market breadth was negative with 1,150 advances against 1,431 declines.

The S&P BSE banking index too traded with gains of 294.35 points or 1.10 per cent.
