London Terror Attack Suspect Named By Media

20 June 2017, 10:14 | Terri Saunders

Metropolitan Police said they were dealing with a "major incident".

London Mayor Sadiq Khan, the city's first Muslim mayor, called the incident a "horrific terrorist attack", which was "clearly a deliberate attack on innocent Londoners, many of whom were finishing prayers during the holy month of Ramadan".

The probe in the incident led investigators to the Welsh capital Cardiff, where they searched a property said by media to be the home of Darren Osborne.

Witness Khalid Amin told BBC television that the driver of the van was shouting: "I want to kill all Muslims".

The PM later met with community leaders on a visit to the mosque in London's Finsbury Park.

One man died and several others were injured when a van was driven into a crowd of pedestrians outside the Finsbury Park Mosque in the early hours of this morning.

"This is being treated as a terrorist incident and is being investigated by the Counter Terrorism Command".

Osborne was taken into custody shortly after the attack when bystanders in the crowd restrained him until police arrived.

United Kingdom home secretary Amber Rudd described it as an appalling incident and said new funding for security at religious sites had recently been arranged.

"We have a witness saying that the guy who did what he did, the driver of the van, said 'I did my bit, ' which means he's not mentally ill", Kacimi said. We pray too for those who perpetrate such acts that God may touch their hearts and minds with his love, forgiveness and compassion.
