Lewis Hamilton wants to 'win the right way' after Vettel controversy

"On the cool-down lap, I was just giggling like a schoolboy".

"Hamilton is trying to win his fourth world title, to match Vettel's four".

Daniel Ricciardo won the race, giving Red Bull its first victory of 2017, and Horner hopes his team can be more involved at the sharp end even though its pre-season title hopes have been dashed.

"That was a shock to Sebastian, and that is why he came alongside Lewis to ask 'what the hell are you doing?' What Vettel then did was to unquestionably collide with Hamilton".

Vettel finished fourth, with Hamilton fifth after an extra pitstop to fix a loose headrest and as a result, Vettel extended his lead in the drivers' standings to 14 points. They are fighting for the race wins and the championship.

The stewards were clear in apportioning blame, imposing a 10 second stop-and-go penalty on the German for steering into Hamilton. After the initial collision, the German gesticulated angrily with both hands as he then pulled alongside his rival and hit the side of Hamilton's auto. "I respect him a lot for the driver he is".

"I think that's been kind of obvious for some time now", Hamilton said when asked about Vettel's apparent lack of composure.

"Nothing happened, did it? He brake-checked me as well so what do you expect?" he said.

The Ferrari driver then told reporters: "I don't have a problem with him".

"I am willing to sort it out with him but l don't think there is much to sort out".

Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo won in Baku after a chaotic race which saw Ferrari's Vettel given a 10-second stop-go penalty when he steered into the back of race leader Hamilton's Mercedes under safety auto conditions after a red-flag stoppage on lap 22.

Esteban Ocon of Force India was sixth ahead of Kevin Magnussen of Haas, Carlos Sainz of Toro Rosso, who also survived a first-lap collision, two-time champion Fernando Alonso, who scored McLaren's first points of the year in ninth, and Pascal Wehrlein of Sauber.

Driving his Williams with calm aplomb on an afternoon of chaos, the 18-year-old Canadian silenced his critics with his top-three finish in only his eighth outing.

"There are a different set of stewards at nearly every grand prix".

"I am a bit lost for words", said Stroll.

They are rotated on a regular basis and most are drivers who ended their racing careers some years ago - with the likes of Nigel Mansell, Derek Warwick, Mark Blundell and Mika Salo having filled the role.

On Sunday, he was only beaten to second place by Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas on the final straight.

"I hope as we are gaining in competitiveness that we can - I think we are too far out of contention to compete for the championship - but I think we're gaining performance and speed to be able to compete for race wins, as we get more performance on the auto".

"I don't listen to that stuff, it is just noise". I don't think this is the right time to talk.
