In May, Trump created an American Technology Council, his latest effort since taking office to modernize the US government.

Executives from numerous world's largest technology companies will gather Monday at the White House to meet with President Donald Trump and his senior advisers during a summit aimed at modernizing the federal government.

The council is made up of CEOs from Silicon Valley's most prominent companies, as well as over a dozen White House officials.

Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law and adviser, said the administration wanted to "unleash the creativity of the private sector to provide citizen services in a way that has never happened before".

Kushner spoke Monday about efforts to update how the federal government functions, addressing fellow members of the Trump administration and business leaders, including Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and Apple CEO Tim Cook. It is reported that while Facebook was invited to the meeting, the social network choose not to attend. Intel unveiled plans at the Oval Office in February to invest more than $7 billion in an Arizona factory, a move Trump portrayed as a win for US workers. "This structure is unsustainable", Kushner said.

The CEOs and White House also planned to discuss Trump's review announced in April of the United States visa program for bringing high-skilled foreign workers into the country. Cook plans to raise immigration, a person briefed on the matter said Sunday. A 2016 government audit found that in Medicaid alone, there was $29 billion in fraud in a single year.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who once served as an economic advisor to the president, has already announced that he would step down following Trump's decision to withdraw from the Paris Agreement on climate change.
