Apple Watch Series 3

Apple Health Tim Cook has been reportedly using a device to read his glucose levels that connects to his Apple Watch. According to the latest report from CNBC, the diabetes sensor, which needs to be paired with the Apple Watch, was donned by Apple's chief executive over the smartwatch. Based on this, it sounds like the team has yet to figure out a way to get it inside the Apple Watch as it seems like at the moment it still exists as a separate device. It was reported in April that Apple has a team in Palo Alto, close to its Cupertino, California headquarters, working on the "holy grail" for diabetes, a device offering non-invasive and continuous glucose monitoring.

The company was far enough along to be performing feasibility trials at clinical sites in California's Bay Area, with consultants on hand to help navigate regulatory pathways, according to the CNBC report.

It's likely that any non-invasive glucose monitoring hardware would comprise of one or more sensors that could be built into a product like the Apple Watch or even sit as a standalone device. Glucose trackers now on the market use sensors that penetrate the skin.
